Overview

Precision ultrasound for algae & biofilm remediation

The Pulsar Family (Pulsar 3400 & 4400) is an advanced ultrasonic platform that uses 4,400 precisely tuned frequencies to disrupt algae and associated biofilm in high-value water bodies — without relying on chemicals.

Pulsar 3400 is configured for smaller or enclosed applications such as ponds, tanks and clarifiers, while Pulsar 4400 extends range and power for large lakes, reservoirs and critical industrial or municipal assets. Both systems can be deployed on floats, land-based frames or solar-powered Sentinel platforms.

Pulsar Family – Pulsar 3400 and 4400 ultrasonic systems

Fast Facts

  • 4,400 ultrasonic frequencies to target a broad range of algae and biofilm.
  • Targets most green and blue-green (cyanobacteria) algae plus selected golden and red tide–type species.
  • Pulsar 3400: designed for smaller bodies of water and enclosed assets; Pulsar 4400: for larger, high-value sites.
  • Four piezo transducers per head (4 × 90°) provide 360° coverage.
  • Continuous 24/7 operation with telemetry and IQCloud connectivity for monitoring and optimisation.
  • Configurable power options — AC, DC and solar (including Sentinel AIQ/+ packages).
  • Chemical-free and designed to be safe for fish, plants and other aquatic life at the operating frequencies used.
Regulatory & Compliance

Non-biocidal, equipment-based algae and biofilm control

Pulsar systems treat algae and biofilm using physical ultrasound rather than biocidal chemicals. This helps reduce the handling, storage and discharge considerations associated with traditional algaecides and herbicides, while supporting your broader water-quality and ESG objectives.

Regulatory requirements for non-chemical treatment devices differ by jurisdiction. Our team can help map Pulsar into your compliance framework and integrate telemetry and water-quality data into your existing reporting and risk-management processes.

How it works

High-precision ultrasound targeting critical algal structures

Pulsar units emit a rapid sequence of ultrasonic frequencies that interact with gas vesicles, flagella and other cellular structures in susceptible algae. When these structures are driven near their resonant points, they are damaged and the cells lose buoyancy and mobility, sink out of the light zone and break down — without releasing additional toxins into the water.

Continuous 24/7 treatment also disrupts early-stage biofilm formation on structures, helping to keep clarifiers, tanks, screens and other assets cleaner with less manual intervention.

Where it fits

  • Wastewater — clarifiers, settling ponds & lagoons
Reduce biofilm on structures, improve process stability and cut the effort needed to keep clarifiers and ponds clear.
  • Drinking water — reservoirs & plants
Mitigate cyanobacteria and nuisance algae in source waters and treatment assets, supporting taste, odour and overall aesthetic water quality.
  • Golf, HOA & municipal — water features & irrigation resources
Maintain clear, attractive ponds and irrigation storage without repeated chemical treatments, while protecting the value of landscapes and amenities.
  • Agriculture & irrigation
Support irrigation water-quality requirements, reduce fouling in pumps and distribution networks, and integrate with smart farming and remote monitoring.
  • Aquaculture
Control harmful algae in fish and shellfish systems with a chemical-free approach that is designed to protect the surrounding aquatic ecosystem.

Application & configuration guidance

Pulsar systems are configured according to water-body shape, depth, inflows and target species. Units can be mounted on floats, land-based A-frames or solar Sentinel platforms, with single or dual heads driven from a shared controller to maximise coverage.

In most applications, Pulsar operates continuously to prevent new blooms and biofilm from establishing. Best results are achieved when ultrasound is combined with good nutrient and solids management — for example, aeration, sludge handling and runoff control.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Pulsar safe for fish and other aquatic life?
Pulsar is designed as a chemical-free algae-control method. At the operating frequencies and power used, ultrasound is directed at algal and biofilm structures rather than higher organisms, allowing you to manage algae without routine algaecide dosing.
What types of algae can Pulsar impact?
Pulsar targets a wide range of green and blue-green (cyanobacteria) algae and can also impact selected golden and red tide–type species. Site-specific performance depends on species, loading, flow and coverage design, so we recommend an assessment for each project.
How quickly will I see results?
Many sites see measurable reductions in algae counts within weeks, with continued improvement over time as the system runs continuously and nutrient dynamics stabilise. Heavily loaded or fast-flow systems may take longer and often benefit from complementary nutrient and solids management.
Can Pulsar integrate with our SCADA or monitoring system?
Yes. Pulsar supports telemetry and IQCloud integration and can be paired with MiniSenseIQ and SenseIQ8 sensors for real-time water-quality data. We can work with your team to integrate alarms, trends and reporting into your existing dashboards.
